I'm fairly sure I'm too young to have a good opinion on love

Hey lovers it's Thursday.

That is my nickname for tons of people.  I just go around calling people lover.  So, that connects?

So... love?  I'm not sure if a thirteen year old can actually go around talking about love with out sounding like an absolute idiot.  Even if you can pull it off it ought to be really hard.

I asked my friend Katie what to write about, she said that I should write about her and a boy named Ronnie.  It sounded like a good idea because, at least to me, the story is quite hilarious.

Ronnie. Ronnie is a boy, who probably doesn't shower as much as he should.  He is actually an idiot.  He isn't all that smart.  He dies his hair this unnatural black color, and I probably used to like him back in second grade or something.

One day when Katie was in her P.E. class sitting next to Ronnie and his annoying friend Austin (because all of their last names are really close together) they were being quite mean to her. Telling her that she was too white, tree hugging, and nerdy to be a "gangsta."  Then Austin told them that they should get married.  Katie saw an opportunity and she jumped on it.  From that day on she began to write songs for him.  Once in P.E. I told her that she should go sing for him.  So we walked over and in front of all of his wall ball playing dorky friends she sang for him.  It was hilarious.  The two of us were basically on the ground laughing.  Then his annoying best friend Sean, who called me Sweaty Butt Cheek Woman for the whole of seventh grade, asked us about our facebook profile pictures.  He said that no one's face should look like that.

Ronnie though told me that he liked me more than he liked Katie. Even though we have again and again told him that she is just joking.  Once Ronnie even sang to me in the library.  Granted he was singing "One is the loneliest number." Or whatever the title of that song is.  It went like this, it was the last real day of school, and marching band was over, the school library was done renting out books (or whatever you call it), and I had gotten to school way too early,  so I was sitting alone, and Ronnie came up and starting singing to me.  So I threw something at him, but since the school librarian hates him he didn't tell her.  I was very happy about this because she hates me too.  I'm not really sure why.  She kind of hates me book choices?  Actually when I come to think about it she might not hate me all that much.  She sits next to me sometimes in the library when the annoying girls who sit behind the counter and try to "help" get way too annoying. She hates that I read Stephen King and Lewis Carrol though.

Oh well.  I'll say that talking about my school librarian worked because I kind of love her.

I actually love a lot of things. Perhaps I actually don't know what love is because I through the word about rather nonchalantly.

Well bloggers after that all I have to say is... LOVE YOU!

Hannah I will read what you have written after you have wrote it.

Thing I heard my little sister say: Lindsay:"Sure mom I'll do the dishes- Does Haley really have to help? Can't she do something else? She's really terrible at doing the dishes."
Me: "I've just heard everything you just said!"
Lindsay: "Well it's true!"
I'm so terrible at doing the dishes that I'm not allowed to help anymore!

Lots of Love! :)

...and angst

Oh shit, girls, it’s Wednesday!
So I think the hard thing about blogging (at least for me) is the fact that it’s the summer and I’m off school and I totally forget what day it is until really late at night when I want to curl up in my bed and read while I listen to some radiohead or watch Mad Men… (I’ve decided it’s something I should dive into. My dad loves to buy seasons on TV shows used on amazon and watch an episode every day when he excersizes and he already ons the first two seasons; I’m going to watch the first episode tonight... tell me if you watch it, when I get into a TV show I can watch about a season a week so I should be caught up pretty soon and we can talk… anyways) …so I get to it late at night and I spend a shit load of time typing these out, but I have to try to write pretty quickly... I know blogger’s clock is on west coast time (*cough cough* I think blogger’s clock is on west coast time), but in my time zone it’s about four hours earlier than it says it is on blogger and, girls, let me bring you in on a little secret: I never actually make the midnight deadline.
…On to the theme…
So love. I’m pretty damn sure I’ve never been in it. I don’t have a boyfriend. I’ve never had a boyfriend. The closest I’ve gotten to having a boyfriend was a mutual like-ship… in seventh grade… with robby… we were both in set crew so we hung out a lot… I blame the paint fumes because, while Robby is a really great guy, I mean he’s one of my best friends, he is so not my type.
Believe me; I like some people like that, sometimes really intensely, but I’ve never romantically loved anybody… but that’s just romantic love. There are things I love in the world. I love my family and my friends and my dog. I love books, movies, music… I’m kind of really in love with Radiohead right now, but I also love Ben Folds and the Killers.
Speaking of book love… do you girls ever get book crushes? … as in you totally crush on characters from books? I do. I’ve had some book love for:
  • Zach from the Gallagher Girls series
  • Hale from Heist Society
  • Alex Rider from the Alex Rider series (my cousin Sam is going to be in a movie with the lead from the Mission Stormbreaker movie. I’m psyched. He’s hot {The actor, Alex Pettyfer, not my cousin Sam… he’s my cousin, that’d be gross})
  • Spencer from Suite Scarlett
  • The list goes on.
Especially the Weasly twins. I’ve always loved the Weasly twins. Fred and George are so my type.
What is my type?- You may not care, but I tend to like… ok every guy I’ve ever liked has been funny. I like funny guys… also I’m kind of a social studies fan girl so if you’re especially good in your history/ government/ econ. Class…bonus points. Also if you’re good in a debate or model UN or that type of thing because I love a good, well informed, but civil-ish, argument.
I should probably sign off now as this could go on a while if I get to talking about boys I like…
What I’m Watching: Mad Men Pilot
What I’m Reading: Consider the Lobster by David Foster Wallace
What I’m  Listening To: Radiohead… right now it’s on Creep

And "The others were all brought up to be polite. I wasn't."

And "You will never make friends unless you like everyone genuinely. Oh well, I'm fucked then aren't I?"

And "You will become a hypocrite, you'll become a liar. You'll try and paper up your own cracks... and that's what being an adult is all about. Then you have babies and... *shrug* that's it. *long pause* Sorry! *laughs*"

...and I'm about to make deadline for the first time!

Haley, I'm looking forward to reading you tomorrow

It's Blog Writing Time! (a bit like Clobberin' Time)

Hey y'all it's Sunday!
I get the pleasure of writing the first blog in this project and I'm very excited. I wanted to do this blogging project because I want to write more and have an incentive to write. Writing with other Nerdfighters just seemed like a brilliant way to do so. Since I'm the first person in the cycle, I get to be the first to pick the theme. This week's theme is INTRODUCTIONS!
"Hi, my name is Katie and I'm addicted to all things nerdy"
"Hi Katie"
"You see, it all started in 6th grade...."
Okay, I'm done pretending I'm in an addicts self help group, but I will tell you an abridged version of my story. In 6th grade I was bursting with excitement for the final book to come out. Unfortunately, not many of my friends at that time have read the Harry Potter series or had the same fetish for literature as I did. The only people I discussed theories with were my brother and my English teacher Mrs. Williams. Not many people liked Mrs. Williams, but I did.
Anyways, one day I went to Barnes and Noble looking through books and I found one amazing book called "What Will Happen In Harry Potter 7" by Mugglenet.com. I read this book extraordinarily quickly and loved the discussions in that book. However, for some reason I forgot about it until a few months after I finished the last book. I found it while cleaning out book shelves (a chore I have to do twice a year or it gets out of control) and I leafed through it laughing at the theories and the probabilities of characters dying (ha, 0% chance of Dobby dying... SOOO SAD) I decided to find this so called "mugglenet.com" and low and behold I found the most amazing thing I had seen in my life (that may or may not be Hyperbolic). It was a news site, community, and podcast all about Harry Potter. I started listening to the podcasts and I discoverd Wizard Rock. For those who don't know, Wizard Rock (or WRock for short) is a genre of music where bands sing about things that happen in the Harry Potter books. For instance right now I'm listening to Lumos Flies by ALL CAPS which is a parody of "Fireflies" except about Ron and Hermione at the Yule Ball. My favorite WRock band at the time was The Moaning Myrtles. While searching for their songs on Youtube I found this magical channel called Five Awesome Girls in which Lauren Fairweather from the Moaning Myrtles was in Through 5AG I discovered John Green's books and soon the Nerdfighter community. The Nerdfighter community introduced me to other branches of awesome like Chameleon Circuit, Doctor Who, Merlin, Maureen Johnson, Twitter, StarKidPotter and etc. Today I am starting my last week of a freshmen in High School and the only thing I regret is that I hadn't joined the community sooner.
So now that y'all know my story, I'll tell you more things about myself. My name's Katie and I'm 15 years old. I live in the midwest, however I have moved a lot and I was born in Puerto Rico. No, I'm not Hispanic, I'm one of the palest people you'll meet in your life and I know almost no Spanish. I'm extremely injury prone. I've broken my ankle by tripping over air, I constantly trip over cracks in the sidewalk, I fall up the stairs all the time, I somehow get hooked onto doors and block the doorway so no one can get through and so forth. I have a dog named Topsy who has super strength (I'm not kidding, tonight he broke a lead that is supposed to hold 100+ pound dogs... he weighs 17 pounds). I have an awesome brother named Scotty who is the Captain of the Bowling team and the President of SciFi Club. My parents spoil me very much so and I will probably appreciate them a lot in the future. I have several very good friends, including Emily and Hannah who are also part of this project.
There are many things about me that I haven't covered yet, but we'll leave those for later... alright? Nifty!

Jasmine, I'll read you tomorrow!!
