HEY GURRRRRLFRIENZ,
Obviously, I am the only who blogs now (and my blogs don't really count), but that is probably because you girls all have lives. I haven't even started high school yet so I don't really have any work to do over the summer, I don't really have any friends in real life that I feel like I can hang out with, and I basically just can't find anything enjoyable; this means that I have actual time to blog, and I know that everyone else probably doesn't. Or maybe this blog is over? My facebook messages have been broken for a couple months so I can't really check them.
Today I woke up at 8 AM to watch the DH part 2 London premiere. It was just so beautiful to see how special it was to everyone. I loved seeing how much they respect the fans and each other. They truly think of themselves as a big family. To watch the fans that were lucky enough to be there scream for the cast. To see J.K. Rowling talk about how important, we the fans, were to the whole series. To listen to the announcers call Evanna "Luna Lovejoy," to hear them call Oliver and James "the Neville Twins." To know that, even though the fandom's magic won't end, there will never be another Harry Potter movie premiere.
I am so happy to be a part of this magical fandom. We can all connect over the smallest of things. We all help each other to enjoy the series even more. It makes me proud to be a Potterhead.
Without Potter I would not be in the same place that I am today. I would never have gotten in to the internet like I'm in to it right now. I wouldn't be a nerdfighter; I wouldn't even have heard of John and Hank. I would never have gotten in to Doctor Who or Sherlock or Supernatural or any of the other things that my life basically revolves around now. I wouldn't have made some of my best firends. It is terrible to think about what my life would be like without all of the magical things that have come in to my life since Potter.
Today as I watching the premiere, I cried throughout. Not because anything especially sad was happening, but because I was overwhelmed by how everyone felt about "the end."
DFTBA,
Haley

Tenley the Moose
Hey girls, it's Tuesday. First things first, my punishment for not blogging last week. You guys decided to have me dress up like a moose and then make my best moose sound. I can't say that my costume or my moose sounds are at all accurate... but they are definitely embarrassing. So without further ado, I present "Tenley the Moose":
Moving on, this week is BOOK WEEK! My favorite topic. Currently I've been reading "The Last Little Blue Envelope" by Maureen Johnson because I won an advanced reading copy last year through Accio Books and let me tell you, it's amazing! I'm not totally finished yet, because I had to stop and write this blog, but I'm about three quarters of the way through and loving every second of it. Specifically, I'm loving every second of the new character Oliver (crushes on fictional characters FTW!).
I also went to the library recently and checked out "The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Gothgirl" and "Kind Dork". I haven't started either of them yet but they both sound awesome and I'll be sure to keep you posted.
Last weekend I explored a local used bookstore for the first time. I know what your thinking, "if it's local, why haven't you explored it before?" Well, it is local, but its on the other side of town and I don't go down to that area much. But I'm glad I did because its unbelievably awesome. I got several books including a copy of "The Great Gatsby" for 4.99. I've read the book already, twice actually. Once in my Junior year of high school and once on my own shortly after my senior year, but I've never owned the book. Now however, I own it and I can highlight like crazy and it will be wonderful.
Books that haven't come out yet but that I'm excited for, include: Maureen Johnson new series coming out later this year, I think in the fall and Tina Fey's book of short comical essays. Seriously, Tina Fey is probably the only actress/actor who could write a book that I'd actually buy.
Finally, I think I'll leave you with my top ten favorite books. This was incredibly hard because I love so many books, but this is what I came up with.
1. "WinterGirls" by Laurie Halse Anderson
2. "The Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger
3. "I am the Universe" by Barbara Corcoran
4. "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson (I really like Laurie Halse Anderson)
5. "Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix" by J.K. Rowling
6. "Stargirl" by Jerry Spinelli
7. "Boy Meets Boy" by David Levithan
8. "Before I Fall" by Lauren Oliver
9. "Will Grayson, Will Grayson" by John Green and David Levithan
10. "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Yeah... I think that's accurate. Although, already I'm thinking of books that I left out. But that will do for purposes of this blog. Emily, I'll read you tomorrow.

I expect to eat more bread bowls
Hello, it's Tuesday... in case you didn't know. Today's been pretty uneventful aside from me eating a gigantic bread bowl full or soup for dinner. It was delicious, but also huge. But the delicious part must be outweighing the rest because I'll probably have another bread bowl soon, not like tomorrow, but in 2011. Hey, that was interesting and totally pre-planned way of moving into the theme. So, because I love lists as much as I do (a lot, in case you didn't know) I'm going to tell you what I expect from 2011 in a list.
Things I expect to happen in 2011:
1. Write everyday and get a little better at it. The first part of this is my resolution which I've already told you about. The second part is basically me expectation for my resolution. I don't intend to become the best writer ever, or anything close, but I do expect to get a little better at it then I am now. Also, I expect to make writing a daily habit, mostly because I'd really love to be at that point.
2. Work a lot, or as much as humanly possible around my class schedule, and continue setting aside part of my paycheck everytime I get paid. There's no real reason for this, I'm just one of those people that feel better when I have money in my savings account and it's definitely a good thing so... why not?
3. Get a new car. The car I have now is a Pontiac Sunfire Convertible 1996 that I've had since I was sixteen (my first and only car). Its a good car, it runs and everything, but it's starting to have a considerable number of problems. I've already been told by my parents that they are willing to chip in to this "Tenley needs a car" fund. Which is nice, because that means I'll be able to get a decent car.
Things I'd like to happen in 2011:
1. Ace all my classes this year. I generally do okay (A's and B's with an occasional C) but it would be really freaking awesome if I could ace all of my classes.
2. Attend a Nerdfighter/Youtube gathering. The big one's are Vidcon and Leakycon but due to money and the location of those gatherings neither is very likely. But, maybe a local gathering? Driftless Pony Club is going on Tour soon and Lauren Fairweather is pretty much touring full time. So, maybe?
3. Find some kind of volunteer program I like and become a part of it. I partly want this to happen because it will look good on applications to grad school when I get to that point and partly because I've always wanted to be seriously involved in some kind of volunteer/charity organization.
And... I think that's it. Well, at least, that's the bulk of what I expect/want to happen this year. 2011 has started off pretty well and hopefully it will just keep getting better.
Emily, I can't wait to hear the news that Katie says you have for us, tomorrow.

"Back Home Again In Indiana"
Hey girls, it’s Wednesday.
I’m home from camp now and I’m glad to be back. I’m glad to be back. I’m glad to be back. Sorry, I’m hoping that if I tell myself I’m glad to be back over and over again it will become true. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to be seeing my family again, but in the short three weeks I lived there I came to really love New York. I really miss my suite mates and the city already… but I’m hope now and I’m happy about it! #falseenthusiasm. I have all kinds of stories to tell about camp, but I have to figure out how to tell them first. So I’m going to tell you stories from camp in another post and instead use this post to spend a bit of time talking about my home state.
I feel like the best way to talk about Indiana is by talking about the title of this post. Go ahead, scroll back up to see it, I’ll wait. That’s a quote from a song. It’s called “Back Home Again In Indiana”, I considered posting the lyrics here, but I decided against it. Why?... you may not really care why, but I want you to ask why. Alright Emily, “why?” There you go, now please stop being so demanding. I didn’t post the lyrics to the song because I feel like they don’t capture its true feeling. It’s a sentimental song. When you listen to it the song seems kind of sad and loving in this completely sweet way, at least that’s how I feel. The song is not Indiana’s official state song, but I feel like it should be because of the way it makes you imagine the Hoosier state (in case you didn’t know, people from Indiana are called “Hoosiers” or “hicks” but, to quote my uncle Ed [who is actually an intelligent man] “we like to prefer to be called Hoosiers.”). I invite you to look the song up, but first I’m going to tell you that, honestly, that’s not how I usually view the 19th state of the union. I will admit that I’m not really a proud Hoosier, I’m not sure anybody is… well maybe some few people from Indy… yeah, Indy’s a pretty nice place… anyways, I’m don’t there are very many proud Hoosiers out there. I can remember in my theater project class one of the plays had flag desecration. We wanted to perform the play, but we knew the American flag and the school flag were off limits and I remember someone saying “Could we use the state flag” Someone else then said “I bet we could, I mean when I drive past the state flag I don’t really feel any sense of pride… I mean I see an Indiana state flag and I guess I kind of laugh.” … While we didn’t end up performing the play the conversation really makes it obvious how Hoosiers, at least the Hoosiers at my school, feel about the state. Who can blame them?
- With a population of 795,458, Indianapolis is the largest city in Indiana and 13th largest in the United States. Three other cities in Indiana have a population greater than 100,000: Fort Wayne (251,247), Evansville (116,253) and South Bend (104,069).
- Indiana ties with South Carolina for 8th highest Obesity rate in the country.
- In 2003, Indiana ranked 11th in the nation for the lowest percentage of adults lacking Basic prose literacy skills.
In Indiana’s second largest city 12.5% of the population and 9.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 17.5% of those under the age of 18 and 7.6% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
· In January of 2005 Men’s Health Magazine called Fort Wayne the Dumbest city in the United States… believe me, I remember when my 4th grade class found out. Articles about it:
o The original Men’s Health Article: http://www.menshealth.com/men/health/metrogrades/is-your-city-stupid/article/225a99edbbbd201099edbbbd2010cfe793cd
o USA Today, Looking For Signs of Intelligent Life in Fort Wayne: http://www.usatoday.com/life/2005-01-19-dumb-cities_x.htm
…Anyways, I’m home now and it’s bittersweet.
What I’m Reading: AH EVERYTHING, but recently I’ve been focusing on Noam Chompsky… Although, I got Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World books 4 through 6 (!!) today so…
What I’m listening to: Catching up on NPR’s “This American Life” but also “Ulysses” by Franz Ferdinand
What I’m Watching: Arrested Development Season 1
Quote: "Certain motherfuckers think they can fuck with my shit, but you can't kill the Rooster. You might can fuck him up some times, but, bitch, nobody kills the motherfucking Roster. You know what I'm saying?"
