My favorite things are sterotypical.

Hello bloggers, It has just come to my attention that it is Thursday.

I'm very sorry for coming up with such a hard topic, but I'll tell you the story.
*Flashback to Sunday*
There I was, just sitting listening to Pomplamoose when I get a facebook message. *Ping* (Or whatever sound it makes, I can't remember.) It's Katie reminding me that I have to think of a topic. I can't remember exactly what I said but it was along the lines of "Oh crap I forgot." Suddenly, as I was thinking, the song switched to "My Favorite Things" from Sound of Music. And VIOLA there is your theme. I'm sorry that it is so difficult, I didn't realize how hard it would be for everyone, including me. :)

I was going to make a collage, but then I realized that I was too lazy, and lists are much easier.

This is in no particular order, and I don't have much time because I'm trying to edit a video for my collab channel. rawr. Here's a link. http://youtube.com/user/thenerdvana My video is going up tomorrow. :)

Here is my list of a few of my favorite things (the list that Tenley left in the comments pretty much sums it up, except for maybe add, and take away a few things.)

John Green/Hank Green
books
John Green Books
Nerdfighting
the internet
the man who created the internet
Harry Potter
Dr.Horrible
Mystery Guitar Man
Music
Hank Green Music
Charlie McDonnell (this includes everything about him, and everything that he does. :) Fangirl much?)
Alex Day
Tom Milsom
wheezywaiter
youtubers in general because I'm not going to name them all
My fabulous epals
nerd/wrock bands
Star Wars
The HP Alliance
Harry Potter roleplaying on Quizilla because it is hilarious how bad those people are.
Molly Lewis
Youtube
Dear Girls Above Me
Muggle.net
My bestest friend
The Game

That list doesn't even nearly sum it up, but it does show you that I don't know how to pick favorites. :)

I don't even really have anything important, but I would say that my books are also the most sentimental item(s) that I own.

My favorite things would be my Horcruxes

Hi bloggers, it's Tuesday!

My aunt and uncle are currently on their way here and I figure I won't have time to blog after they arrive, so I'm doing it now. I was going to do it this morning but... um, morning and me don't get along. But other than the fact that they are coming, nothing much is going on here, so let's jump right into the theme.

This is probably the hardest theme for me so far. I love so many things! So for the first thing, I'm going to focus more on the sentimental side of the theme. I've had this bear since my first Christmas, his name his Andrew. I realize that's a strange name for an infant to come up with and its possible I didn't come up with it and my parents did. They say I did so most likely I made a sound that kind of sounded like "Andrew" and they translated it as Andrew. But anyways, I loved this bear. I took it everywhere, I did everything with it and to this day I still have it (despite the fact that I got rid of my other stuffed animals a long time ago). Needless to say, if I was witch and decided to split my soul into seven pieces like Voldermort, Andrew would be one of my Horcruxes. He's that awesome.

My other favorite thing is my computer. Which sounds like the obvious thing, and I'll admit it kind of is, but I really do love it (the only way I'd love it more is if it were a Mac). I literally spend all my time on it, and communicate with the majority of my friends on it and without I'd never have discovered nerdfighters. Yeah, a piece of my soul would definitely be put into my laptop (or the Mac version that I will get at some point in the near or distant future).

Emily, I'll read you tomorrow!

Currently reading: Still "Prep", omg I need to get back to reading because this getting kind of ridiculous.
Currently listening to: Um... not sure, my brother's playing music in his room but I don't recognize the song. That's a lie, I recognize it, but don't remember the name.
Quote: "They belonged to the real, physical world; previously, it had seemed as if they belonged to me." From "Prep".

Oh Dear.

Hey bloggers, it's Monday.

So I'm leaving for Hawaii in a couple of hours, so I decided to make my entry as soon as it turned from Sunday to Monday. I was expecting something easy to write about, and that I could make it to the point and with less rambling. BUT IT IS INEVITABLE. This week's theme is really intense for me because I have way too many favorite things.

Yikes.

One of my favorite things that I always proclaimed my love for.. are strawberries. I love strawberries. Everything about it fascinates me and the whole concept blows my mind. Y'all probably think I'm a little nuts because I'm crazy about a fruit. The subject of strawberries is a little complicated for me to explain but they mean a lot more to me than just a yummy fruit. For example, I see it as a symbol and as an icon. It's difficult to explain, but something about strawberries are very alluring and seductive to me. I love how it's featured in the media. For example, Strawberry Fields? I also love The Beatles, but that's another story.

I'm kind of rushing, and I apologize for the hasty and badly written blog entry. I'll make it up, and I know this isn't nearly as good as Katie's.

Tenley, I'll try to read you tomorrow. Forgive me!

These are a few of my favorite things

Hey Girls it's Sunday!
Happy Fourth of July! Yesterday I was thinking to myself "I should wear my England jacket, it's red, white, and blue and... oh, wait!" Well, I wore it anyways and I've gotten and few strange looks and it's been pretty awesome. Oh, in further news my bestest in friend "in the entire universe" just became my boyfriend, so... yay!
This week's theme is our favorite thing in the entire world. How could you possibly choose one!!! So in order to make the blog not a thousand pages long I made a collage!

Those are my favorite things (how many can you name?) But I think my favorite things of sentimental value are my books. I think it's kind of weird how sentimental my books are to me, but when I read them I see where I dogear, where I spill stuff, and I remember different points of my life when I reread some of my favorite books. When I reread one of the Magic Tree House books, I remembered begging my brother to give me his MTH books because I read them more, I remember reenacting the series in my backyard, I remember the crisp fall weather I was in when I read it years ago. Through these memories I remember even more of my childhood and I just love it. Books bring back memories for me and it just adds a whole other dimension to the list of what books can do. I'm more or less a Sentimental person (yes, Sentimental Man just got stuck in my head)
Jasmine I'll read you tomorrow!

-Katie

Currently Listening to: Non Dairy Creamy by Third Eye Blind (does anyone else think it should be Third Blind Eye? it bothers me)
Currently Reading: Theater Geek (still, but I read Scott Pilgrim 5 and The Cat Who Saw Red this week while reading Theater Geek)

Any way I can pretend it's still Saturday!?

Hey girl it's Saturday! ... or not, it's Sunday evening here and I doubt there is a time zone where it is till Saturday... is there some kind of light punishment for blogging a bit too late?

I am at my boyfriend's place now and I don't really use the internet much when I'm here, I didn't even turn on my laptop in the last days. Although I have to admit that I always check Facebook and Twitter with my iPod touch. I actually wanted to blog yesterday, but somehow I just didn't find any time. We wanted to go to the sea to swim, but that was a BAD idea, because half Poland had the same idea and there were so many traffic jams that we decided to give up and just went home. Then we had some cleaning to do, because we moved from the city to the country house, then drove here and then it was already late evening. Time sometimes passes by way too fast.

I also have to tell you about my crazy travel from Germany to here on Tuesday. The plan was quite okay: take a bus at 4:45 am from Dresden to Berlin, arrive around 7:30 am, plane at 9:05 am. Yeah, well. The bus left on time, but there were so many traffic jams around Berlin that we had 50 minutes delay. We arrived at the airport at 8:30 am and guess when Check-In ended? 8:35. I had to run to the right terminal (thank god that it's a quite small airport) and I checked in at 8:36. I was so stressed and it really pissed me off when the stupid check-in woman told me that next time I should come earlier. Thanks for you advice, really. Anyway, after that I had to run to the security and to the gate and I was the last one in the bus to the plane. I was not even sure if I was in the right plane until we started and they said "Welcome to your flight to Gdansk..."

Like all of you (apparently) I love quotes. When I am reading I often write down quotes I like, I also have some notebooks in which I'm collecting quotes and lyrics I like. Those notebooks are all at home and I don't remember everything, so I have to use what is on my computer.
In school we once had an assignment to make some folder about ourselves (it was a project of our English teacher, I don't really remember what it was about) and I designed the cover with quotes I like and I feel connected to. We then also had to write why we chose what. My point is - that text is somewhere on my external hard disk which is upstairs, and I don't want to get it now, but I might post that text later (when I overcome my laziness).

You can love someone so much... but you can never love people as much as you can miss them. - Paper Towns
Of course my first quote has to be by John Green. Actually I could write down all of Paper Towns and Looking For Alaska, because those books are one big quote.
This is my favorite quote from Paper Towns. This and "The towns were paper, but the memories were not" are stuck in my head since I read them for the first time. There is much truth in this quote. For me the feeling of missing someone is much stronger than loving someone. Loving is sort of a 'hidden feeling', while missing is... painful. Does this make any sense?
There is this saying "You don't know what you've got until it's gone" and I think it's also connected to that. It often happens to me that I don't really realize how great something or someone is until it's over.

I don't have more time to write because it's late and we watch a movie now, so I will just write some more favorite quotes of mine and maybe comment on them later.
I don't need a friend who changes when I change and who nods when I nod; my shadow does that much better. - Plutarch
Love is being stupid together. - Paul Valery
Don't wait for your ship to come in - swim out to it.

Here is the cover of the folder I mentioned before and the text:

On the cover of my folder are five quotes and six pictures, which discribe or picture either me, my attitude to life or both.
I chose the quotes by themes, first I had more quotes, but I had to exclude some, because I didn’t have enough space. Hard work hasn’t killed anybody yet, but why take a risk?  My first quote is about laziness, which describes me pretty good. I’m the one who postpones everything, I’m quite a minimalist. I’ve not lost my mind, it’s backed up on a disk somewhere! The second quote is a paradox, on the one hand about being a little bit crazy and on the other hand it brings up the aspect of computers, which has a important meaning in my life. Sometime I feel like my mind is somewhere else, and why shouldn’t it be backed up somewhere? Impossible is a word only to be found in the dicitonary of fools. This quote of Napoleon expresses my additude to life pretty good. In my opinion, everything is possible if you just don’t give up. I’m not interested in the past but in the future, because the future is what I’m going to live in. The fourth quotes is about the future and different perspecitves. I chose this, because in fact I’m not so much interested in the past. Of course history and all that stuff is very interesting, but I’m the kind of human who likes to know about this what’s approching him. The perfect normal person is rare in our civilization. The last quote is also my favorite quote, so I’ll go into detail about this one. It’s ambiguous, because on one hand it adresses the imperfection of the humanity and on the other hand I see it as a description about my „insanity“ or better: that state of being crazy which I’m often calling insanity, though this is not the real meaning of the word. First I saw the quote just as a example for talking about „not normal“ people, but in the meantime after thinking a lot about it I also see some other expressions of this special quote. That’s also why I finally picked it. It tells me about the people, who always think they are perfect, just because they are „human“. This is definitly not my opinion, because I think there is just more than only humanity, all the divine causes and the things which humans don’t know and understand... And then, as I already said, for me, it’s about my style of living. This kind of insanity means for me, doing spontaneous crazy things, talking desultorily about illogical matters and a lot more, which I just can’t describe adequate. It’s more a feeling, it’s like if you’d try to express happiness.
The background behind my quotes isn’t meaningless, too. It’s the first few pages of Inkheart, my favorite book by Cornelia Funke. I decided to take it as the background because it’s my favorite book and it tells about books, and what meaning books have in the life of the protagonist Meggie, and my attitude to books is exactly the same.
Katie, I'll read you tomorrow today!

A Blog written in my notes app on my iTouch and lateness ok'd by Katie

SORRY SARAH FOR INTRUDING ON YOUR SATURDAY!!!!

Hey girls it's Friday(it was when I wrote
this)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(count those)
This is going to be a long blog so I apologize ahead of time. I also
apologize for not blogging last week. I was grounded and had gotten
all of my stuff (basically all of my access to technology) taken away
so I was unable to blog. I am so very sorry and I was really looking
forward to that blog...
So I'm going to do that blog and this week's blog now.

Last Week's Blog:

So I feel like a have a pretty insane family usually but after getting
the chance to read everyone else's blogs I feel like my family is
really average. At least among the seven of us. Ok so I have three
other siblings. They are all younger than I am which makes me the
oldest. Yeah logic! Ok so from oldest to youngest there is ME, my
sister Hillary, my sister Hope, and my cute little brother Luke. He is
the most adorable little boy you have ever seen. Well I might be a bit
bias but he really is.

(Halloween)
Hillary:
So Hillary is the typical younger sister. She bugs me on purpose

because she knows she can and she knows how. But she can also be
really awesome. She used to be swimmer like me but she sort of just
stopped going recently. I have the feeling though she'll pick it back
up when she goes into high school because my parents require us to do
at least one sport in high school although they really want us to do
two. Hillary is also really smart and has recently really started to
love reading. Kind of like it was for me. We both really didn't like
reading and we only did it when we had to do school but then we each
found a series (for me it was
Harry potter and for hill it was the
Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging series) that we really liked and
we couldn't stop reading after that.
Reading is contagious. It's like an illness with no cure but that's ok
because I don't mind it. She plays the guitar a little bit and she
recently started horse back riding.
Hope:
Hope also recently started doing horse back riding. She also my cuddle
buddy. I always ask my brother if he'll give me a kiss cause he is so
adorable but he always says no and Hope wil say I will I will. And
she'll give me a kiss and I'll give her a big hug because she is the
sweetest little angel. Of corse she also has a devil side. She ha
recently start the the whining to get her way phase. So when ever she
gets mad she gets really ugly sometimes violent. She can't really
cause damage though so not bad. Hope is also on our neighborhood swim
team and she is getting really good at breast stroke. She won her heat
in her race at the last meet.
Luke:
Luke is the most handsome, cute, adorable little brother in the whole
world. When he gets older he is going to have all of the girls at
their knees and swooning at the sight of him. He is probably the most
nerdy of my siblings. He loves video games and not the typical video
games no he likes the awesome video games. He has every star wars
video game that has been made for the
PS3, all of the Lego Indiana
jones
games, and we recently got him the new Lego Harry Potter Years
1-4 game. It is so awesome but we still haven't managed to beat the
first level which is with the ogre in the girls bathroom. Finally Luke
is also very sensitive. It is very easy to make him cry. If you aren't
careful and you talk to him in the wrong tone of you acuse him of
something he will cry until you asure him that he isn't in trouble and
you give him a hug.

And I also have a dog named Jack who is practically my brother.
Sometimes I think he gets treated better than I do. Of course
sometimes my dad just can't stand him. My dad is a cat man.

This Week's Blog

So this week's blog is to pick a quote and to sort discuss it. At
least that's what Katie told me. I am currently in the car typing this
whole blog on my notes app on my
iTouch. So excuse me if I do not find
some deep meaning behind my quote. So my quote is from the book that I
am currently reading which is
The Ghosts of Ashbury High by Jaclyn
Moriarty
. She also wrote The Year of Secret Asignments. Have you girls
read it? So I'm going to use more of a passage that I recently read
about
black holes that think is absolutly brilliant instead of a
quote. So this passage spans across many pages and is about
black
holes
and about this kid called Tobias who is defining what they are
and he gradually changes his definition as he has new experiences. He
also compares the definitions to the history of Ireland and his
family.

The first definition is:
A
black hole is a something that you get when you get so much stuff
crammed together into one small place that the plac can't handle it
anymore so the place goes ballistic and turns into total, mad darkness.
By the end of the passage he has come up with:
Know one knows what a black hole is because if what they think is true
about black holes was true then there would be no way to prov it so
the scientific communuty calls it an information parodox. And that in
the end it is the horror and the beauty of the things that we don't
know. Until they pin down what it is  anything is possible and anyones
guess could be right. And that this gives us a feeeling of empowerment.
I totally get this and when I read it I was like wow. I never would
have thought of it like that and made those connections of course you
have no idea what I am talking about because I totally didn't give
enough information so I'll give you the pages and you can read the
book. 114-130

Sarah I'll read you tomorrow. (today)

Sorry if there are spelling errors. I did type it on my iTouch after all.

“Procrastination is the bad habit of putting of until the day after tomorrow what should have been done the day before yesterday.”

-Martin Luther King

So true Martin, and yet we all wish that it wasn't.

Hey bloggers it's Thursday.

If you couldn't tell by my half exasperating, and half hella confusing quote, I have put off this blog post a bit.  My reason: I am extremely tired.

You may be thinking, 'Oh Haley, she has probably been asleep all day and has now woken up just to humor us with her less than satisfactory blog posts.'  If you thought that you would be completely wrong, and I would have pulled the wool over your eyes.  In truth I have been lazily reading, and watching the 80 something videos that have cluttered up my subscription.  Sorry girls... Forgive me?  :)

Those of you who care might be wondering why I am so tired.  The reason is that I have been on vacation.  In the dry and scenery lacking Central Oregon.  Trust me, I liked it, but it was a bit... bland?

Here is a picture of where I was:

And here is a picture that doesn't make it look quite as ugly:

I am used to more of this:

(This is a very colorful picture that shows my city, and it isn't very bland.)

Here is a picture of our pretty nature:

Here is the city, and one of my favorite places in the world:

Can you see why I thought that the scenery could have been a lot prettier?  By the by, have any of you girls noticed that I cover up my short writings with pictures?  If you haven't noticed then you forget that I ever said that. ;)

Is anyone reading this (though I doubt that anyone has gone this far) opposed to over babbling? If you are speak now or forever hold your peace... No one?  Okay then, I'll go ahead.

I'll tell you a bit about my trip.  It was only a three hour car ride to get there, but it seemed really long in the hot car.  Once we got there we rode bikes a lot, and swam.  Lindsay fell off her bike and on to my friend Katie while zooming down a hill and she scraped her body of pretty badly.  Katie got out with only a small scratch as a battle wound. At the swimming pool I decided to act like my complete moronic self and I stood under one of those baby wading pool fountains that proceeded to stand under the spot where the bucket pours completely over your head.(Shown here.  That red and yellow thing that has buckets to dump mass amounts of water on small children's heads.)

While there I discovered that after seeing a bajillion of them, deer aren't so cute anymore, and they just become a natural thing.  I also discovered that Katie doesn't hate the look of babies as much as she thought because she 'awwed' at most all of them that came around.  I discovered that I should learn how to articulate my speech better.  (Sort of like the whole "I want my smack" thing?  Anyone understand that?  Giver, anyone?)  I discovered that trying to get chlorine out of your hair, when you're just going to go swimming again tomorrow, was a complete lost cause.  Maybe you will now think that I came sort of in to a few epiphanies while on this trip?  You'd be wrong though, because I discover a lot of things, but I've never come in to an epiphany.

I've decided to put a quote in here about discoveries, just to adhere to the theme.

"All truths are easy to understand once  they are discovered; the point is to discover them."
- Galileo Galilei

Did that quote work?   I just googled "discovery quotes."  That was cheating, and I am aware of it.  The point of the theme was probably to tell you about a quote that spoke to me, but the thing is, I love quotes, because they help me connect my life to other things, like books, and other nerdy/geeky things, but quotes don't usually speak to me that strongly.  What I'm really trying to say is that I don't like quotes much.  Forgive me for that, I said that wrong.  I love quotes, I just hate the act of quoting others in a public state.  I'm very sorry if this quote hurts anyone's feelings, I really don't want anyone hating me in this collab, because they themselves love quoting the wise words of other's publicly, but I found this quote and it actually DID speak to me.

He who trains his tongue to quote the learned sages, will be known far and wide as a smart ass.
-- Howard Kandel, Unknown , Unknown

This theme truly has shown me that while I kind of hate it, I am a girl that likes to quote.  Even though I'm a hardcore googler when it comes to finding the quotes, I still love them.  A geek if there ever was one, I suppose?  :) Maybe I should stop working against myself?  Maybe that is what this theme has shown me?  That I don't work for myself, but instead against myself?

While Lindsay was torturing me by being on the computer, so therefore I couldn't be, right after I had finished my book so that I  had nothing to do, I was writing a story.  I'm not exactly sure where the story is going, but it will go somewhere if I ever get to finish it.

I also found a book called Big Wisdom: Little Book  it is a book full of quotes.  As I was flipping through the book I decided to go to the last page.  The quote there said, "The art of the quoter is to know when to stop "-Robertson Davies.

Now that I've realized that I'm a hardcore quoter, and I kind of hate it.  I've also discovered that Robertson Davies is a very smart man.  Robertson Davies sort of helped me have a mini epiphany.  I don't have to like the fact that I like to quote, but that won't change the fact that I do.

Now that I've managed to write about nothing that anyone ever will care about ever I bid you goodbye.  I doubt that anyone will get to the end of this post, but I don't really care. :)

Thank you Emily, I don't exactly know how, or why, but your theme has taught me a lesson.  I don't exactly know what the lesson is though.   I loved it. :)

Hannah, I will read you tomorrow.

Currently  Just finished Reading: Geektastic: Stories from the Nerd Herd

Hope that no one hates me for writing such a terribly boring blog post.

By the by, I don't know what's wrong with the font.  I don't know why one part of it is in a different font, but it won't go to normal.
